How to make Oat Milk at home ? Why would I make oat milk or any plant based milk/ beverage at home when there are so many options available in the market. Well, yes, there are options for sure. Although, the non dairy options for milk usually have a lot of additives and oils in their products
Highly processed foods even if vegan are sometimes harmful for people with chronic illness. For me, I have to watch for the additives like phosphates in the readymade products I buy. Since, added phosphates are harmful for already compromised kidney function.
I have been having homemade oat milk for over 2 years now. For people going on vegan diet with no ailments, nut based milk is a good option. However, for someone with chronic kidney disease, nut based milk is not the best option. Since nuts are high in both potassium and phosphorus. With a compromised kidney function, it is difficult for the kidneys to process potassium and phosphorous.

I have to say it took some time to get used to the taste of oat milk, when I decided to switch over from dairy milk. I use homemade oat milk in my teas and coffees. I was asked to accompany a client to an appointment with their doctor to be a second set of ears and to help them remember more of the information and of course afterwards to talk about that information and share any insights.
What I learned about Kidney Disease on a Tuesday I was able to put to work on Friday and now am sharing it with you. Many individuals with chronic kidney disease are on restricted protein diets to reduce damage to the kidneys. It is my experience that there is important information not always being shared with these clients, that may be able to reverse or lessen the damage they are doing to the kidneys.
Phosphorus is an essential nutrient that helps form strong teeth and bones, metabolize fats and carbohydrates and create proteins within the body. This naturally-occurring element also assists the function of B vitamins, is important for the contraction of muscles, and the proper function of the kidneys, heart and nervous system. We obtain phosphorus through the food we eat, 800 to 1,000 milligrams of phosphorus a day is the limit for someone who has kidney disease. Most healthy adults may eat double this amount.
