Study Design And Setting

A double-blind, randomised, repeat measure, crossover design trial was used to study the glycaemic response and insulinaemic response to a proprietary mulberry leaf extract compared with a placebo. Participants acted as their own controls. The trial was conducted by the Oxford Brookes Centre for Nutrition and Health at Oxford Brookes University. Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the University Research Ethics Committee at Oxford Brookes University .     The results demonstrated that blending Reducose directly into the test meal positively impact efficacy with the reduction in peak postprandial glucose being 42% lower and postprandial plasma insulin being 41% lower than the placebo arm.
