So unless you eat kilos of tomatoes every day, you are not at a risk of developing kidney stones. Hence, establishing a link between tomato consumption and kidney stones would be a long shot.
Potatoes And Sweet Potatoes
Potatoes and sweet potatoes vegetables are very rich in potassium. For instance, one baked potato about 150 grams contains about 610 mg of potassium. Also, a baked sweet potato about 115g contains approximately 540mg of potassium.
While there are numerous ways to reduce the high potassium levels in these vegetables, eating them in great quantities can pose a kidney stone problem. High potassium levels in the body is also a common factor that encourages the development of kidney stones. Too much acid in your blood can also worsen high potassium levels. Your kidney doctor regularly measures how much acid in is your blood and might prescribe medications to reduce acid, such as a medication called sodium bicarbonate. Diet can also affect the amount of acid in your body.

Which Drinks Are Bad For Kidney Patients

Kidney stones are hard, pebble-like masses that form in one or both of your kidneys. They vary widely in size and, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, may be as small as a single grain of sand or, in some rare cases, as big as a golf ball. Approximately 6 percent of women and 11 percent of men in the United States experience kidney stones at least once during their lifetime.
Small kidney stones usually pass through the kidneys and the urinary tract without causing any symptoms, but larger stones can get trapped and block the flow of urine, which can cause pain or bleeding.
There are different types of kidney stones, and each type may require a different type of treatment plan, along with a different type of kidney stone diet. Some foods that are good for kidney stones caused by calcium and oxalate aren’t good for kidney stones caused by uric acid, and vice versa.

How To Avoid Kidney Stones
Here are the five ways to help prevent kidney stones:
Drink plenty of water: Drinking extra water dilutes the substances in urine that lead to stones. Strive to drink enough fluids to pass 2 liters of urine a day, which is roughly eight standard 8-ounce cups. It may help to include some citrus beverages, like lemonade and orange juice. The citrate in these beverages helps block stone formation.
Eat calcium rich foods: Dietary calcium binds to oxalate in your intestines and thereby decreases the amount of oxalate that gets absorbed into the bloodstream and then excreted by the kidney. This lowers the concentration of oxalate in the urine, so there is less chance it can bind to urinary calcium. That leads to decreased risk of kidney stones.
Reduce sodium: A high-sodium diet can trigger kidney stones because it increases the amount of calcium in your urine. So, a low-sodium diet is recommended for the stone prone. Current guidelines suggest limiting total daily sodium intake to 2,300 mg. If sodium has contributed to kidney stones in the past, try to reduce your daily intake to 1,500 mg. This will also be good for your blood pressure and heart.
Avoid stone-forming foods: Beets, chocolate, spinach, rhubarb, tea, and most nuts are rich in oxalate, which can contribute to kidney stones. If you suffer from stones, your doctor may advise you to avoid these foods or to consume them in smaller amounts.
