But is the bubbly beverage just as good for your body as the stuff that comes out of the faucet?
Basically, yes. Sparkling water can be just as hydrating as regular water, according to Jennifer McDaniel, a registered dietitian and certified specialist in sports dietetics.
Carbonated or sparkling water is made by dissolving carbon dioxide in water, creating carbonic acid. This process just adds bubbles it does not add sugar, calories, or caffeine. Tonic water, club soda, and mineral water are all types of carbonated water, but these have added sodium, vitamins, or sweeteners, so its important to read the label.
There are some common health concerns associated with drinking carbonated water for instance, that it leaches calcium from the bones, causes kidney stones, and strips the enamel from your teeth but these are not supported by clinical research.
In reality theres no good evidence that carbonated water causes harm to your bone, registered dietitians Jennifer Nelson and Katherine Zeratsky said on the Mayos Clinics blog. The confusion may arise because of research that found a connection between carbonated cola drinks and low bone mineral density.

Types Of Kidney Stones
The different types of stones are made of different types of substances. It’s important to know the type of stone you have, so you can know what may have caused it and how to prevent it.

What is Hard Water?
Hard water is water containing high concentrations of dissolved minerals, usually calcium or magnesium carbonates , chlorides or sulphates . The hardness of water depends on its source. Drink plenty of water: Drinking extra water dilutes the substances in urine that lead to stones. Strive to drink enough fluids to pass 2 liters of urine a day, which is roughly eight standard 8-ounce cups. It may help to include some citrus beverages, like lemonade and orange juice. The citrate in these beverages helps block stone formation.
Eat calcium rich foods: Dietary calcium binds to oxalate in your intestines and thereby decreases the amount of oxalate that gets absorbed into the bloodstream and then excreted by the kidney. This lowers the concentration of oxalate in the urine, so there is less chance it can bind to urinary calcium. That leads to decreased risk of kidney stones.
Reduce sodium: A high-sodium diet can trigger kidney stones because it increases the amount of calcium in your urine. So, a low-sodium diet is recommended for the stone prone. Current guidelines suggest limiting total daily sodium intake to 2,300 mg. If sodium has contributed to kidney stones in the past, try to reduce your daily intake to 1,500 mg.
