Weighing in at just 2 pounds and powered by a rechargeable battery, WAK 3.0 was issued patent number 10,993,183 for a combination wearable and stationary dialysis system.
The description of the device given for the patent states that WAK 3.0 a hemodialysis system that can be configured into two dialysis systems the first can be attached to a belt and worn around the waist of the patient during the day for continuous filtration, while the second would be stationary at night to provide the patient with more thorough dialysis treatment.
While the third generation of the WAK is in trial stages, Gura hopes it will prove that the portability of the machine, which runs on a rechargeable battery, and to show that dialysis can be done anytime and anywhere, allowing patients more mobility in their day-to-day lives.

Since first throwing my leg over a bike 17 years ago, I have never once seen anyone wear a motorcycle touring kidney belt.
Ive never even spoken to anybody about a kidney belt.
So what the hell are they? And should you be wearing one?

I always wear mine. It gives me some lower back support, keeps stuff from juggling around my mid section, and gives me that one extra layer of protection just in case. I forgot to pack it one day and did not feel right without it.For the record, I also wear a helmet, Leatte, elbow guards, chest protector, knee braces, knee sox, riding shorts, boots, gloves and goggles. Next I am trying to figure out how to get an entire layer of bubble wrap under my pants and jersey without looking too gay.When I go down, I want to bounce like a rover landing on the surface of Mars, roll to a stop, and have all my parts working underneith the inflatable cacoon.
